Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com says in a series of tweets that the Atlanta Braves are getting calls from some teams regarding shortstop Yunel Escobar.
Crasnick says the “Braves are hesitant to move Escobar because he’s only 27, is super-talented and they think he might be in for a big second half.” Crasnick adds, “Atlanta also doesn’t have an alternative at SS.”
The Minnesota Twins are believed to be looking for infield help. The Philadelphia Phillies are desperately looking for infield help, but it’s unlikely the Braves would trade Escobar to a division rival.
Escobar is currently hitting .238/.339/283 with the Braves this season. He’s underachieving compared to last year when he hit .299/.339/.812 with 14 home runs and 76 RBIs.
