Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports speculates that a trade for Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth to the New York Yankees for Javier Vazquez could make sense if New York could acquire another starting pitcher. In theory, Cliff Lee would have been that guy. Both Werth and Vazquez are free agents after this season.

Philadelphia believes they could get long-term pieces for Werth, and if they call up top outfield prospect Domonic Brown, they could get the kind of energy boost that they have been looking for all season.

The Phillies are 5 1/2 games out of the NL East, and are not expected to sell. However, they are not playing well enough to make a run at Houston Astros’ Roy Oswalt.
