Update – Ty Wigginton Rumors: Scouts from 10 different teams in attendance for Sunday’s game

By Allan

7/19 09:04: According to Dan Connolly of The Baltimore Sun, “The Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets and Rays had scouts at Sunday’s game”

7/18 10:38: Wigginton has no idea what could happen to him, according to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe. Some candidates that could use his services include the Reds, Rays, Angels and Yankees.

7/17 15:45: According to a source close to Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun says all talks between the Orioles and Phillies about Tejada and Wigginton are dead.

7/16 19:33: Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com says a Texas Rangers’ scout was in attendance for the Orioles-Blue Jays game played on Friday night. Ghirolli says the Rangers are among the teams believed to be interested in All-Star Ty Wigginton. Wigginton is the Orioles best trade chip, and the Rangers have asked for Wigginton before, but didn’t want to meet the Orioles’ demands.

The versatile Wigginton, 32, can provide teams with defensive options given his experience throughout the infield and outfield. Ghirolli adds that the Philadelphia Phillies could be a candidate for Wigginton since they are going through injury problems with their infield.

Earlier today Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun said that he would be “shocked” if Wigginton is still an Oriole come August 1. He also adds that the Phillies could also be in on Miguel Tejada, but he isn’t sure about the likelihood of him being traded.  The Yankees, Rays, Astros, Dodgers and Mets are among the teams that have scouts at tonight’s game.
