Earlier today, Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch said the Toronto Blue Jays had a scout to watch the Cardinals and Houston Astros series. The Blue Jays are in selling mode and are believed to be willing to deal shortstop Alex Gonzalez.

The Blue Jays in turn may be targeting the Cards’ Brendan Ryan. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting .194/.262/.286 this year for the Cardinals.

Gonzalez, 33, is leading all AL shortstops with 17 home runs and 50 RBIs.
