7/21 14:50: The Giants aren’t alone in the pursuit of Jose Bautista, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. The Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves are in on the MLB home run leader too.
7/21 14:37: Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated tweets, “#sfgiants interested in jose bautista. toronto could look at middle infielders, including emmanuel burriss or ehire adrianza”
7/21 12:22: According to sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports says the San Francisco Giants remain interested in several players including Milwaukee Brewers’ Corey Hart, Kansas City Royals’ David DeJesus, Washington Nationals’ Adam Dunn and Florida Marlins; Jorge Cantu.
It’s no secret the Giants have been interested in Hart. Earlier this month the San Francisco Giants and the Brewers were negotiating for the right fielder with left-hander Jonathan Sanchez the player the Giants were likely going to deal.
DeJesus is being paid $4.7 million and has an affordable club option for $6 million in 2011. Because of his affordable salary, the Royals want to “win the trade” by acquiring top quality prospects if they decide to trade DeJesus.
The Nationals are unlikely to trade Dunn “unless somebody knocks them over.” Dunn is a fan favorite in Washington and has hoped for a contract extension to remain with the team.
Cantu’s name has been mentioned in trade talk all summer. The Marlins’ current 10-game homestand will ultimately determine if the team will be buyers or sellers by July 31.
