San Francisco Giants interested in Chicago Cubs Ryan Theriot?

By Allan

A source close to Chicago Cubs infielder Ryan Theriot indicated to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News that the San Francisco Giants could have some interest in the infielder. Theriot has been displaced from his normal shortstop position by rookie Starlin Castro.

Baggarly ran the rumor by his club sources and he was told his name hasn’t come up yet.

The Giants’ shortstop position has been split between Edgar Renteria and Juan Uribe. Renteria is wrapping up his two-year, $18 million contract, and he has not lived up to those dollar figures.

Uribe has been hitting .105 in his last 16 games and he’s playing on a bad leg. Baggarly suggests the Giants acquire another shortstop if they want to make a serious run at the NL West.
