Update – San Francisco Giants eyeing Brewers Corey Hart
By
7/6 17:14: Schulman adds, “Giants would love to have him, but the Brewers are unsure if they want to deal him.”
Andrew Baggarly tweets, “Brewers only dealing C. Hart this week if another club overpays. And my intel says Giants aren’t sufficiently enamored w/Hart to do that.”
Baggarly adds, “Specifically, Giants wonder if Hart’s numbers aren’t an inflated product of his lineup, ballpark. It’s a lot different in NL West parks.”
7/6 16:51: Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle tweets, “The Brewer the Giants are focusing on in a possible trade is outfielder Corey Hart.”
7/6 10:19: Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says the Giants general manager Brian Sabean and one of his top evaluators, Lee Elder, was watching the Giants take on the Brewers from the press box of Miller Park on Monday. The Giants are in town to take on the Brewers, but Sabean and Elder may be focused on acquiring Brewers players.
Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury suggests the Giants could leave Milwaukee with more than just a “souvenir cheddar in the shape of Wisconsin.” Could they leave with Corey Hart, a Prince Fielder, a Todd Coffey?
Schulman adds the possibility that the Giants could be looking at Ryan Braun.
It doesn’t appear that formal discussions have taken place since the trade market is still developing and the Brewers are looking for the best deals.
The positive sign is that Sabean like to engage in face-to-face discussions and it’s possible that Sabean met with Brewers GM Doug Melvin to set some groundwork.
