According to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, the San Diego Padres have claimed outfielder Quintin Berry off of waivers from the Phillies on Wednesday and then optioned him to Double-A San Antonio.

The Phillies 2006, fifth-round pick is a left-handed hitting center fielder and was born in San Diego. In 66 games for Double-A Reading, he is hitting 210 with 2 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 stolen bases.
