Prince Fielder Trade Rumors: “Nows the time” to trade Fielder

By Allan

Some executives are convinced that the Milwaukee Brewers will move Prince Fielder before the trade deadline, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.

“If you’re going to do it, now’s the time, because he can impact two pennant races,” said one GM

The problem with moving Fielder now versus the winter is the number of bidders. The number of bidders after the season would likely increase and therefore drive the price up on the first baseman, but it’s a double-edged sword. If the Brewers trade him now, they will likely get a better return since the team can use Fielder for two playoff runs versus one playoff run if traded this winter. Fielder is a free-agent after the 2011 season.

Olney suggests that Fielder would be a good fit with the Chicago White Sox. GM Kenny Willliams is an aggressive deal maker and can move fast. If the White Sox go after Fielder, it’s likely they will have include Daniel Hudson and Gordon Beckham in an offer.
