According to the Associated Press, the Philadelphia Phillies have released infielder Juan Castro to make room for Placido Polanco. Castro hit .198 with 13 RBIs in 54 games with the Phillies this season.

Polanco was activated off the 15-day disabled list and will be starting today versus the Chicago Cubs. Polanco had been experiencing left elbow inflammation since June 29.
