Sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports say the Philadelphia Phillies are interested in Toronto Blue Jays reliever Scott Downs.

The Phillies currently have one left-handed reliever in their bullpen (J.C. Romero) and the NL East have a lot of left-handed power hitters.

Left handed hitters are hitting .271 against the Phillies this year – the second wort mark among contending teams.

Downs, 34, is 3-5 with a 2.65 ERA this season. He’ll command a high price from the Blue Jays because he’ll likely be a Type A free agent after the season.
