7/10 14:42: Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer says the Phillies have designated catcher Dane Sardinha for assignment to make room for Carlos Ruiz who was activated from the disabled list today.

Sardinha, 31, did not play for the Philllies big league club this season. He has a career .125/.163/.163 in 31 career games.
