Minnesota Twins looking for veteran starting pitcher
By
Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire indicated on his weekly radio show on ESPN 1500 AM that the team is exploring options for a starting pitcher, according to Kelly Thesier of MLB.com.
“We know that’s the area we’re scuffling at,” Gardenhire said on the show. “There are a few people we’re looking at. Maybe a veteran to solidify [the rotation] a little bit could really help us out.”
Gardenhire recently spoke with GM Bill Smith in recent days about a few things that they’d like to do with the club, and he said that the club “will probably have a few things going on.”
The top name starting pitching that could be available include Roy Oswalt, Ben Sheets, Jeremy Guthrie, Dan Haren, Edwin Jackson, Fausto Carmona and Jake Westbrook.
