Los Angeles Angels unlikely to acquire a big bat?

When Los Angeles Angels GM Tony Reagins was asked if his team was giving up on the season, he said, “Absolutely not. We fight. We compete.”
The Angels are five games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West and they need a big-time, left-handed slugger if they want to make up that ground.
The big names such as Washington Nationals’ Adam Dunn and Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder are unlikely, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports. The Nats won’t trade Dunn “unless somebody knocks them over.” The Brewers want pitching, and the Angels are lacking a surplus of elite prospects.
Other possibilities include Florida Marlins’ Jorge Cantu (a right-handed hitter), and Arizona Diamondbacks’ Adam LaRoche.
Yesterday, ESPNLosAngeles.com reported that Reagins was focused on acquiring Kansas City Royals third baseman Alberto Callaspo, a former Angel farmhand.
“There are opportunities to improve; we’re going to look to do that,” Reagins said, without referring to any specific player. “They may not necessarily be the premier guys you hear about, that are written about.”
