According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Royals have traded third baseman Alberto Callaspo to the Los Angeles Angels for right-handed pitcher Sean O’Sullivan and Minor League left-handed pitcher Will Smith.

Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com first reported earlier this week that the Angels GM Tony Reagins was focused on acquiring the third baseman from the Royals. Saxon said at the time that the Angels offered O’Sullivan and another “fringe prospect” in exchange for Callaspo.

Callaspo was in the Angels’ system before he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in March 2006.
