Earlier this month, the Detroit Tigers had scouts watching the Royals. The Tigers are in need of relief pitching since Joel Zumaya is out for the year. The Boston Red Sox could be interested, but earlier this month Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe received mixed signals from the club, but he said that “there’s no questions he’s an option.”

Farnsworth, 34, is 3-0 with a a 2.41 ERA in 33 appearances for the Royals this season.
