Kansas City Royals Rumors: Will Royals move DH Jose Guillen and RHP Kyle Farnsworth?
ByNick Cafardo talks about the trade status of outfielder-designated hitter Jose Guillen and right-handed pitcher Kyle Farnsworth of the Kansas City Royals in today’s Boston Globe.
Guillen called the Royals “the worst fundamental team in baseball.’’ Cafardo says that the liklihood of him being traded soon allows him to speak the truth. The Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Rays are looking for a right-handed bat, and although Guillen has primarily played DH this year, he could still play a corner outfield spot.
Cafardo says he has received mixed signals on the Red Sox’ interest in Farnsworth, but “there’s no question he’s an option.”
“I’d be nervous with him and Boston, but here’s the thing — his stuff hasn’t slipped at all,’’ said one National League scout. “He’s still very strong and John Farrell [pitching coach for the Red Sox] has a knack of being able to relate to anyone.’’
