7/27 13:02: Joel Sherman of the New York Post says, “The Giants are working on outfielder Jose Guillen with Kansas City sending back some money on the $4 million-ish he is owed the rest of the year”

7/27 10:41: Jayson Stark of ESPN tweets, “On Jose Guillen rumors: Was told by one club that KC has “no real options” to move him, even if they take $ & ask very little back”. Stark later adds, “In fact, the same source speculates KC “might be done.” DeJesus hurt. Very little action on Guillen, Bannister, Davies, Farnsworth.”

7/26 22:08: Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star says the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays had scouts on hand to watch the Royals on Monday. Dutton speculates that the Phillies were on hand because of their need for relievers. He is not sure how the Blue Jays would match up with the Royals.

Players that are known to be available from the Royals include OF/DH Jose Guillen, outfielder Scott Podsednik and relief pitchers Kyle Farnsworth and Joakim Soria.

Earlier today, the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers were known to be pusuing Podsednik. The left-handed hitting Podsednik is hitting .309/.353/.399 with 5 home runs this season.

The Yankees have been known to be interested in Soria as a late-inning reliever.
