Kansas City Royals David DeJesus out for the year
By
You can put all of the David DeJesus rumors to a rest. The Kansas City Royals outfielder is out for the year with a complete ligament tear in his right thumb, according to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star. The initial thought was that he would be out 2-6 weeks.
The San Francisco Giants and the Boston Red Sox were interested in DeJesus. The Sox and Royals got to a point where the teams were exchanging names earlier this month. In any deal, the Royals wanted to “win the trade” by acquiring top quality prospects if they decide to trade DeJesus.
DeJesus, 30, is being paid $4.7 million and has an affordable club option for $6 million in 2011 which made him very attractive to cost-conscious teams.
