Jeff Francoeur Trade Rumors: Mets outfielder wants to be in New York
ByOver the last few days, trade rumors have heated up regarding New York Mets outfielder Jeff Francoeur being sent to the Kansas City Royals. At the time Francouer welcomed a trade if it meant more playing time for him.
“You’ve got to ask yourself, ‘If I’m playing once a week, how good am I going to be anyway?’ because I’ve never done that,” Francoeur said. “Some people have done that. I’m just going to show up every day and be ready to play and see what happens.”
Francouer’s mentality has since changed. According to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com, Francouer said that the wants to be in New York and he like it there and enjoys playing. “It’s a crazy place to play,” Francoeur said, “but it’s a fun place to play.”
It’s unlikely the Mets will trade Francoeur for the time being since Jason Bay is out with a mild concussion. It’s possible that he could be traded in August if he clears waivers.
