Agent Alan Nero said infielder/outfielder Chad Tracy has interest in playing for the Washington Nationals because of his relationship with general managetr Mike Rizzo. Rizzo originally drafted Tracy in the 2001 First-Year Player Draft.

Tracy, 30, was designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs in late June. He was granted his release instead of going to Triple-A Iowa. This season Tracy was batting .250 in 44 at-bats
