GM Brian Sabean doesn’t know if the Giants can make the playoffs without a trade

By Allan

When San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean was asked if his team could make the playoffs without a deal, this is what he said.

“I don’t know. The schedule this year and how we’ve played, throughout the first half, it’s been crazy. Some days we look like the team that’s been 9 games over .500 and some days … we look very much like a .500 team.”

“We’ve got our work cut out for us because we’ve got to get over three teams. But I like the relative experience we have and the depth. And the attitude’s been good throughout, the effort’s been good throughout, but we obviously have to play better in the division and win more games against teams above .500.”

The Giants have been rumored to be going after Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart, but nothing official has gone through. Last week we also heard that Brewers’ infielder Rickie Weeks could be a positive boost for the Giant’s under performing offense.

Information from Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News was used in this article.
