7/27 00:03: In a post-game pie celebration, Florida Marlins left fielder Chris Coghlan tore a miniscus in his left knee and putting him on the disabled list. Check out the interview:
The team has since banned pie celebrations. The pies are usually made up of shaving cream on a paper plate or towel and they thrown in a teammates face, sometimes during a TV interview.
In the interview, Coghlan references Los Angeles Angels’ Kendry Moralas’ walk-off broken leg grand slam injury. Coghlan says his injury isn’t as serious as the one Morales suffered from.
“They have to make a call on whether he’s going to have surgery or avoid surgery. He’s going to be at least two or three weeks,” Rodriguez said of Coghlan.
Logan Morrison will be called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday to take Coghlan’s place on the roster.
