FanHouse on MLB Trade Deadline Rumors: Roy Oswalt, Dodgers, Ty Wigginton, Yankees, Billy Beane

By Allan

The staff at AOL FanHouse has a few rumors to keep our eyes on as we approach the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline:

A source with knowledge of the club describes Phillies trade talks as “quiet … status quo,” a day after the team was reportedly in negotiations for Roy Oswalt. It is believed that Oswalt would waive his no-trade clause to go to Philadelphia.

One Major Leageu Sources says he doesn’t believe the Dodgers have enough prospects to get any significant help. The team with the best collection of prospects is the Tampa Bay Rays.

The San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers and New York Yankees have all shown interest in the Baltimore Orioles Ty Wigginton.

The Yankees are not pursuing a starting pitcher despite the recent injuries to many of their starters.

A’s GM Billy Beane hasn’t gotten many calls on the right-hander Ben Sheets. The A’s won’t pursue any short-term improvement at the cost of the long-term core of the organization.
