7/1 18:49: Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com says Tracy has cleared waivers and opted for his release instead of going to Triple-A Iowa.

6/25 10:33: According to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times (via Twitter), the Cubs designated Chad Tracy for assignment. The Cubs had to create roster space for Aramis Ramirez, who is coming off the DL.  This season Tracy was batting .250 in only 44 at bats.  Ramirez who is coming back from a  bruised thumb is hitting only .168 in 179 at bats.
