Update – Corey Hart Rumors: Rays, Padres and Giants interested in outfielder?

By Allan

7/13 22:44: Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle tweets, “Heard this: Giants and Brewers talked turkey on Hart, and Milwaukee asked for [Jonathan] Sanchez or [Madison] Bumgarner. [GM Brian] Sabean is not eager to trade either.”

7/13 10:23: For the past couple of weeks, the San Francisco Giants have been interested in acquiring outfielder Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers. Today, John Shae of the San Francisco Chronicle mentions the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Diego Padres are also eyeing the All-Star outfielder.

Last week, the Giants were expected to talk about a deal involving Hart for left-handed pitcher Jonathan Sanchez, but no official offer was made.

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says the Rays are willing to part with one of its young pitcher to acquire Hart. One prospect that is likely on the Brewers’ wish list is right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson who currently is at Triple-A Durham. We mentioned yesterday that it would likely take a blockbuster deal to pry Hellickson from the Rays, and we would consider Hart to be a “blockbuster” for the Brewers and Rays.

“It’s hard to not see the papers and rumors about me and other teams,” said Hart, who confirmed he has wondered about playing for the Giants. “I think about it. I find myself talking with guys on other teams more – like the Giants.”
