Colorado Rockies Trade Rumors: Looking for corner infielders and pitching
By
Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post talks about some of the key spots the Rockies need to focus in on before the trade deadline:
Corner infield: The Rockies like Florida Marlins’ Jorge Cantu and Dan Uggla and Baltimore Orioles’ Ty Wigginton. In regards to first base, the team is prepared to move for a rental, but they’re keeping their eyes open for a long-term solution.
Relief pitching: The Rockies have interest in Toronto Blue Jays’ Kevin Gregg and Pittsburgh Pirates Octavio Dotel. Both pitchers may be tough to acquire. Chad Qualls of the Arizona Diamondbacks could also be an option.
Starting pitching: If the Rockies go for big pitching help, they could target Arizona Diamondbacks’ Dan Haren, but the price may be too high.
Renck says to look for the Rockies to make a move for another bat and veteran reliever as the most likely additions.
