Chicago White Sox trying deperately to get Adam Dunn from Washington Nationals
ByAccording to sources close to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, White Sox GM Kenny Williams has spent the last few days “trying to desperately to pry Adam Dunn from the grasps of the Washington National.” He’s offering, “anyone and anything he has in the minor leagues in a package.” Cowley adds that no one is untouchable including pitcher Daniel Hudson or infielder Dayan Viciedo.
“The problem Kenny is finding out is that [Nats GM Mike] Rizzo is acting like Dunn is Ryan Howard,” the source said.
Two players that Rizzo wants, that Williams has refused to move, are either second baseman Gordon Beckham or right fielder Carlos Quentin.
On Saturday, we heard that the the Washington Nationals would not trade Dunn and any deal was dead. Cowley says that the talks aren’t dead, but rather the ball is in Rizzo’s court.
Williams hints that the negotiations and other trades could continue through the July 31st deadline. He says, “And just because July 31 passes, that doesn’t mean other opportunities won’t come about.”
