According to Alyson Footer of MLB.com, the Houston Astros have traded catcher Kevin Cash to the Boston Red Sox for shortstop Angel Sanchez. Footer adds that Sanchez will join the Astros on in San Diego on Friday.

Cash will provide the Red Sox extra insurance behind the plate. Victor Martinez broke his thumb last weekend and is currently on the disabled list.

Cash, 32, was hitting .271/.333/.605 with 2 home runs in 20 games with the Astros this year.
