Update – San Francisco Giants not ready to act on Corey Hart

By Allan

7/9 11:02: Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports tweets, #Giants not ready to act on C. Hart. Would rather give up prospects rather than an SP such as J. Sanchez. Also prefer LHH.”

7/8 19:32: Jon Morosi of FOXSports tweets, “#Brewers pro scouts met in #MIL this week to discuss team. They saw four losses. Sounds like a seller to me.”

While this is a vague statement, the Giants could wait out the situation and see if the Brewers back off on whatever their official demands are. We’re about three weeks away from the deadline and the closer the Brewers get to the deadline their demands could decrease.

7/7 19:11: Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports tweets that the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants are expected to talk about a deal involving outfielder Corey Hart for left-handed pitcher Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez last pitched on Monday against the Brewers. He pitched six innings and gave up five hits and one earned run. If he remains a Giant, he’s scheduled to pitch against the Washington Nationals in Washington D.C. on Saturday.

The Giants are in Milwaukee through Thursday, so it’s possible that both players could be swapping uniforms by tomorrow.

It’s been rumored throughout the week that the Giants have been interested in Hart. The only concern right now is that Hart may have overinflated stats given his recent success and 20-game streak. Yesterday, Jim Breen of the Journal-Sentinel said the Brewers should trade Hart because his trade value is the highest it will be from this point on, and he is unlikely to sustain his current performance in the second half.
