7/30 11:00: Ken Rosenthal says the Red Sox have inquired about two left-handed relievers – Colorado Rockies Joe Beimel and Washington Nationals Sean Burnett. The Rockies asking price is too high.
7/30 23:37: Buster Olney of ESPN says that the Boston Red Sox will move starting pitcher Felix Dubront to the bullpen. The team is in need of outfield and bullpen depth, but he notes that may be hard to come by in a market where there is little relief or outfield help to choose from. The Red Sox may make a smaller deal before the deadline, or they may wait until the August waiver period to make a deal.
Over the last couple days the Red Sox have been making inquiries about relief pitching. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports said the team checked in with the Milwaukee Brewers about the availability of right-handed relief pitcher and all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman.
