B.J. Upton Rumors: Rays likely to keep center fielder
By
Despite trade interest in the Tampa Bay Rays center fielder B.J. Upton, a Major League source close to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports says Upton is unlikely to be moved.
Top outfield prospect Desmond Jennings is not ready to take over for Upton nor is a defensive tandem of Ben Zobrist and Sean Rodriguez enough to replace the speedy center fielder.
The Rays are drawing “heavy interest” in Upton, Rodriguez, infielder Reid Brignac and right-handed pitcher Wade Davis. The team would like to keep their current roster intact and use their prospect depth as trade bait.
