Atlanta Braves sign outfielder Willy Taveras

By Allan

According to the International League transaction page, the Atlanta Braves have signed outfielder Willy Taveras and assigned him to the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves.

Taveras was signed by the Phillies in June, but was eventually released.

Taveras has been with a number of organization this season.  He was with the Cincinnati Reds last season, then was traded to the Oakland Athletics last winter. Oakland released the outfielder before Spring Training and he quickly signed with the Washington Nationals. The Nationals released Taveras in mid-May.

Taveras, 28, was hitting .200/.243/.257 in 27 games with the Nationals this season.
