Update – Atlanta Braves looking to add depth to outfield?

7/22 15:11: AOL FanHouse tweets, “From Steve Phillips: Braves evaluating McLouth over next wk. If don’t like what they see, will pursue RH OF like Willingham, Hart, Ross”
7/20 13:13: Two Major League sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports say that there’s a 50/50 chance that the Braves will trade for an outfielder. The Braves have an interest in Florida’s Cody Ross, Milwaukee’s Corey Hart and Washington’s Josh Willingham.
7/20 01:50: Despite having the Major League best record of 41-20 since May 10, the Atlanta Braves and GM Frank Wren may try to improve the already well built club, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
“You don’t want to disrupt a good thing in a lot of ways,” Wren said. “But at the same time, we’ve got to put the most talented club on the field. If there is somebody out there who improves our club dramatically, we have to be open to it.”
The Braves may look for center fielder to provide consistency and depth. Nate McLouth will be activated from the disabled list today, so the team will spend the next week and a half determining if they need an upgrade or if McLouth is healthy enough to get them through October. McLouth was sidelined on June 9 with a concussion.
“I think we have to be open,” Wren said. “We still have to be in that mode of evaluating and seeing what opportunities there are. At the same time, we need to figure out what’s the biggest thing we need.
“I just don’t know yet. That’s not being evasive. I just think we need to let this play out a little bit.”
Candidates that the Braves could go after include Kansas City’s David DeJesus, Florida’s Cody Ross, Milwaukee’s Corey Hart and Washington’s Josh Willingham.
