Are the Chicago White Sox ready to deal Paul Konerko to Angels?

Now that Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy is likely out for the season (and possibly longer), GM Kenny Williams has to think long and hard on the team’s personnel strategy prior to the July 31st trading deadline.
One name whose availability changes by the minute is Paul Konerko. The Los Angeles Angel have long coveted the first baseman as a replacement for the injured Kendry Morales, and the White Sox may want to deal Konerko before it’s too late.
“I don’t really have many thoughts on that,” Konerko said of the possibility of being traded, according to Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times. “It’s not my job to worry about what moves we’re going to make. I think they put this team together to win, so if we’re winning and competing, hopefully I can hang around.”
Konerko is in the final year of his contract and is making $12 million. If he were to be traded now, the Angels would be responsible for about half of that salary, but the bigger problem is the no-trade clause in his contract.
Konerko, 34, hasn’t had any specific conditions that would make him waive his no-trade clause. In May, his agent Craig Landis, said was asked if his client would waive his no-trade clause, he said, “We’ll cross that bridge when and if we come to it.”
One point to note is that the Los Angeles Angels have many coaches today that Konerko is familiar with when he went through the Los Angeles Dodgers organization such as Mike Scioscia, Dino Ebel and Mickey Hatcher.
