VIDEO: CNBC anchor Mark Haines says women should not be in charge of sports

By Allan

Maybe CNBC should stay away from sports all together.

In the wake of the blown perfect game by Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga CNBC’s anchors Mark Haines and Erin Burnett decided to talk about the botched call. Burnett was happy that umpire Jim Joyce and Galarraga made up, but this is what Haines had to say (fast forward to about the 1:09 mark):

Yes.  “Oh my!”

According to BusinessInsider (via the Huffington Post), a guest objected to Haines’ comments and asked for an apology.

“I find [your comments] to be quite objectionable,” frequent CNBC guest Gordon Charlop told Haines. “Perhaps if that woman had been an umpire there, they might not have had the problem in the first place. I think you owe Ms. Burnett an apology right here, right now.”

“That was a joke,” Haines said, but he did not apologize, instead suggesting he and Burnett arm wrestle to settle who is right.
