San Francisco Giants designate Brandon Medders for assignment

San Francisco Giants Logo6/4 14:00: Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says, “Medders reinstated from DL and outrighted to FNO (Triple-A Fresno) to clear 40-man spot for Burrell.”

6/4 13:33: According to John Shae of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants have designated right-handed pitcher Brandon Medders for assignment.

The move was done to accommodate Pat Burrell who was called up by the Giants earlier today. Burrell will join the team in Pittsburgh and could start Friday night. He has been assigned uniform No. 9.

Medders, 30, was 0-0 with 7.20 ERA in 14 appearances for the Giants in 2010.
