Here are a few PRO Rumors to check out as the trading deadline inches closer.
-In case you were under a rock this week, Stephen Strasburg of the Nationals was named the National League player of the week. He not only lived up to but exceeded all expectations that went along with being taken number one in last years draft and having a 100 MPH fastball. Here is his line for his first week (2 starts) in the Major Leagues. 2-0 with 22 strikeouts and a 2.19 ERA. Congrats!
-According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, the Dodgers have not made any progress on trading for an ace that they so desperately need. They are balking at the $25 million plus price for Roy Oswalt and haven’t had any new talks with Seattle about Cliff Lee.
-Bill Shaikin of the LA Times says the Angels could have Paul Konerko today, if they so desired. For now, they appear content with Mike Napoli, who has hit 10 home runs in a little more than a month. If they do make a trade, they might be better off picking up a third baseman.
- The Chicago Sun-Times says Scott Linebrink of the Chicago White Sox could be moved, but he comes with a huge financial liability – $3 million and change this year, and $5.5 million in 2011.
