The Philadelphia Phillies have signed free agent outfielder Willy Taveras according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.
Taveras has been with a number of organization this season. He was with the Cincinnati Reds last season, then was traded to the Oakland Athletics last winter. Oakland released the outfielder before Spring Training and he quickly signed with the Washington Nationals. The Nationals released Taveras in mid-May.
Taveras, 28, was hitting .200/.243/.257 in 27 games with the Nationals this season.
