Pat Burrell6/4 11:03: According to Comcast Sportsnet, the Giants have called up Pat Burrell. He will join the team in Pittsburgh and could start Friday night. He has been assigned uniform No. 9.

6/4 00:29: Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury says it is possible the Giants will add outfielder Pat Burrell to their active roster.

6/3 18:58: Mychael Urban of Comcast Sportsnet reported earlier that San Francisco Giants outfielder John Bowker has been sent to Triple-A Fresno. He adds that the team is “mulling” how to make room for newly signed Pat Burrell to join the 40 man roster.

Urbans says that Mark DeRosa, doesn’t do too well with the Triple-A club he may be placed on the 60-day disabled list.  DeRosa is on a rehab assignment with due to an injured wrist that may require surgery that will keep him out until September. Those on the 60-day DL do not count towards the team’s 40 man roster.  If the space opens up, then the Burrell may have the opportunity to play for the Big League club.

Burrell, 33, is currently hitting .357/.421/.643 in 4 games with Triple-A Fresno.
