According to the Oakland Athletics official Twitter account, the Oakland Athletics have traded INF/OF Eric Patterson to the Boston Red Sox for minor league left-handed pitcher Fabian Williamson.

Patterson, 27, primarily an outfielder but also plays second base, was designated for assignment on June 22 by the Oakland A’s. He was hitting .204/.255/.408 with 4 home runs and 9 RBIs in 45 games with the A’s this season.

Williamson was 4-3 with a 3.72 ERA in 14 starts at Single-A Salem.
