6/15 14:07: John Shae of the San Francisco Chronicle says the Athletics sent Matt Carson down to the Minor Leagues to make room for Conor Jackson.

6/15 13:43: According to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, the Oakland Athletics have acquired outfielder Conor Jackson from the Arizona Diamondbacks for right-handed pitcher Sam Demel.

Jackson, 28, was hitting .238 with one home run and 11 RBIs.

Demel, 24, was 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA and six saves in 22 games for Triple-A Sacramento.

Yesterday, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports said the Texas Rangers were looking at Jackson as a right-handed hitter to come off their bench.

Jackson is earning $3.1 million this season and under club control for 2011.
