New York Yankees sign first round pick Cito Culver

By Allan

Bryan Hoch of MLB.com says the New York Yankees have agreed to terms with switch-hitting shortstop Christopher “Cito” Culver, the team’s first-round selection in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

Culver, 17, was the 32nd overall pick in this year’s draft. The Irondequoit High School graduate was committed to the University of Maryland, but now has changed to plans.

“We are very excited to get Cito signed so quickly and get him out on the field to begin his development as a Major League prospect,” said Damon Oppenheimer, the Yankees’ vice president of amateur scouting.
