St. Louis Cardinals batting coach Mark McGwire will be away from the team for a few days to be with his wife who is due to deliver triplets.

Manager Tony LaRussa said McGwire will be away from the team for a “day or two”. McGwire got a round of applause after Monday’s game from the clubhouse.

McGwire’s wife, Stephanie, is from Glen Carbon, IL., near St. Louis, and the family is living there during the season.
