Los Angeles Angels Rumors: Don’t want to rent first baseman

By Allan

Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that his team does not want to rent a player for the rest of the season.

“At this point,” Scioscia told FanHouse, “it would be a piece that you bring in that would help you past this year — make you better for the future also. I think that’s a deal that would be very attractive to (the front office).”

Kendry Morales used to be the Angels’ first baseman before he injured himself in a walk-off grand slam (see it here).  Based on Scioscia’s remarks the team may want to get a player that can play first base this year and make an effective switch to another position for next year.

The team has been rumored to be going after the Red Sox Mike Lowell, the White Sox Paul Konerko.and the Cubs Derrek Lee. With Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports saying that the talks between the Red Sox and Angels are “hovering.”
