Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe says Oakland Athletics’ catcher Kurt Suzuki will likely be the Boston Red Sox top target in the off season.

Arizona Diamondbacks Chris Snyder and Colorado Rockies Chris Iannetta are also on the radar, but Cafardo says that Suzuki will be a better fit. Cafardo cites Suzuki’s combination of offense and defense are two pluses that the Red Sox desire.

Suzuki is eligible for arbitration for the first time after this season and could fetch a deal similar to Iannetta’s three-year, $8.35 million contract that he signed earlier this year. The A’s have opened discussions with Suzuki regarding an extension, but nothing beyond talks have taken place.
