Joe Capozzie of The Palm Beach Post says the Florida Marlins have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez and two coaches – bench coach Carlos Tosca and hitting coach Jim Presley.
Florida Marlins President of Baseball Operationas Larry Beinfest said in a statement that Edwin Rodriguez was named interim manager, Brandon Hyde interim bench coach and John Mallee interim hitting coach. Rodriguez was previously the manager for their Triple-A New Orleans affiliate.
There have been rumors that Gonzalez is a likely replacement for the Atlanta Braves managerial position when Bobby Cox steps down after the season. Gonzelez was the Braves third base coach from 2003-2006.
