Dontrelle Willis Rumors: Could D-Train be traded again? To the Marlins?

By Allan

Dontrelle WillisJoe Frisaro of MLB.com speculates that if Dontrelle Willis‘ struggles follow him to Arizona (he was dealt from the Tigers to the Dbacks yesterday) he could be designated for assignment again and the Florida Marlins could be his next destination.

There was interest from the Marlins to re-acquire Willis, but they wanted to use him in the bullpen. Willis has a strong preference to remain in the starting rotation – a request the Diamondbacks could accommodate.

The Marlins are looking for left-handed relief help and Willis has a good track record and history with Florida. Frisaro wonders if he is more suited for a bullpen role.

Willis and his wife recently purchased a home near Phoenix, so playing for the Diamondbacks is an ideal situation.  However, if he wants to continue pitching for years to come, it could be possible that it could be somewhere other than Arizona.
