6/9 14:46: Janelle Briseno, the 3-year-old girl, who was knocked unconscious by a line drive off the bat of Russell Martin is expected to make a full recovery from surgery. She is expected to be released by the end of the week.
“My prayers were with her yesterday and she’s OK today, so that’s a good thing,” Martin said.
“I’m sure she’s still a little bit shaken up,” Martin said. “It’s definitely tough for the whole family, but at least the good news is she’s going to be OK.”
Martin spoke to Briseno’s father on Tuesday and wanted to meet her.

6/8 13:57: Tony Barboza and Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times says that a 3-year-old girl had her skull fractured when a line drive hit her during batting practice. Russell Martin was at the plate at 5:30pm Monday when the ball hit the girl in the head on the third base side, knocking her unconscious.
The girl’s father carried her unresponsive body up the stairs to a first aid station. She was scheduled to undergo surgery this morning at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Martin has offered to pay all the girl’s medical expenses, Dodgers spokesman Joe Jareck said.
“As soon as it hit, I heard the sound, I knew it wasn’t a good sound. And then I saw him grab her, it didn’t look like she was moving, so that was scary,” Martin told MLB.com. “I mean, I’ve hit somebody before, but not where they had to be rushed to be the hospital.”
