Colorado Rockies Rockies: Looking for infield help

By Allan

X-Rays revealed a broken left hand for Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and is expected to be out of the lineup for four to six weeks.

“It is unfortunate, but the guys in the lockerroom are just going to have to find a way to step up,” Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd said. “It has been a bizarre year for us with injuries. And it looks like it’s just going to be one of those seasons where we have to find a way to piece it together.”

Clint Barmesa is expected to take over as everyday shortstop and Chris Nelson has been called up to take Tulowitzki’s spot on the roster.

O’Dowd said he’ll be looking at possible trade to add infield depth. Infield candidates include Adam Everett (former Detroit Tigers), Cesar Izturis (Orioles), Stephen Drew (Diamondbacks), Ryan Theriot (Cubs), Omar Vizquel (White Sox).
